Digital Time in Quarter Hours

A printable worksheet for Year 2 students to practise reading analog clocks and writing the time in digital format.

  2. How to use it

    • Do the first row together. Say where the long hand is, say the time out loud, then write it as digits.
    • Students complete the remaining four rows on their own or in pairs.
    • Check as a class. Ask students to explain how they knew, especially for quarter to.

  3. Extension

    Extension worksheet: five analog clocks showing quarter to 12, quarter past 6, half past 11, quarter to 1 and quarter past 9, each with a blank digital clock beside it

    A second sheet with five new times for students who finish early. It includes quarter to 12 and quarter to 1, where the hour hand sits just before the 12 or the 1, which catches out students who read the hour hand too quickly.
